Figure skating, just like any other sport or activity requires discipline. It is not enough to just go on with the activity
whenever you want to.
One must undergo the proper training in order to obtain the physical requirement. A figure skater must be physically fit to perform the routines
because this sport, especialy with the figure skating
jumps, is no joke. Beginners and professionals alike must undergo the proper training for their own
good. They must be strong and well-conditioned and this also helps them to enhance their skills and also to prevent from injuries while
performing.
Skaters need to have flexibility training for their warm-up and cooling-down activity. Strength training, jumping and muscular power training,
aerobic and anaerobic endurance conditioning are the trainings advised. These trainings help in enhancing the body posture and proper body
positioning while on ice, they also help increase stroking speed and power, height of jump, rotation speed of jumps, jump landings, and also
improve the cardiovascular condition and body strength of skaters.
Figure skaters must also have proper ballet training. This is helpful in making the skaters have the awareness in holding and controlling their
bodies while skating. In ballet, they have the chance to understand and know how to make use of their arms, head and legs. There are even
specific ballet classes which incorporate Yoga and Pilates in their program. This enables skaters to do floor exercises to help them increase
their awareness and centering their strength wit their artistic and technical needs.
Being active in other sports is also beneficial to skaters and can serve as their training also and help them develop their skills and physical
makeup. Before engaging in the physical activities, make sure that you are physically fit so that there will be no problems.
Figure skating is a sport that will help you not only develop your skills but also develop self discipline whether you are an active competitor
or just looking increase your figure skating test levels.
